New ‘Google My Business’ and why you must be on it

Computer-crash-man-with-head-in-handsI’m picturing you holding your head in your hands reading this. No, no, not another Google thing I have to get my head round. I’m afraid to say it, but you really do have to get on board because this one is a good thing for your business. It can get you free traffic and, if done properly, can be the backbone to your SEO strategy.

It’s not exactly a new service, more of a reorganisation of a number of existing services, so if you have G+ business account or a listing on Google Places then you’re almost there and you can log in and set it up in a few minutes . If you don’t have these then now is the perfect time to build your new Google profile.

Remember it’s a free service and if your competitors are doing it and you’re not then they’ll rank and you won’t.

NOTE : If you want us to set it up for you then ring Katharine on 01789 868 864 or email at KG@bhmmedia.com or visit our contact page and for small cost we will get you up and running and link your current website. We’ll also get it going with a few posts.

Here’s what you’re going to be able to do through this new platform:

Google+: You can share new text, photos, links, videos, and events to keep your members updated.

Insights: Once you verify your business you are able to gain insights into your visibility, engagement, and audience. I recently made an edit to our page so it is pending verification.

Reviews: Each business is given a Google rating and you are able to manage your reviews on Google and view other reviews around the web.

Google Analytics: Quick access directly to your Google Analytics dashboard so you can see who’s coming and what they’re up to.

Start a Hangout: With the click of a button you can start or join a Hangout and have a virtual meeting with a colleague or client.

There’s two really important reasons why you should do this.  Firstly, unlike many marketing wheezes, this actually works.  And secondly, what you’re doing here is what Google want you to do.  You’re effectively sucking up to them.  And if you suck up to Google they reward you with a higher rankings.  It’s the sort of digital equivalent of giving a teacher an apple.  Go on do it. Do it.  Do it.  Don’t put it off, do it now.

To start the process then visit Google My Business and do it yourself or give us a shout via the contact page and we’ll sort it all out for you.
